Christine is probably best known in her role as Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector at Ofsted where she brought together three different inspectorates to create a new organisation with greater impact. However, she has also been a teacher, a secondary headteacher, a director of education, first in Harrow and then Tower Hamlets, and a local authority chief executive in two London boroughs. She is passionate about transforming the lives of the least advantaged in society.
Over the last few years, Christine has been involved in a range of interesting education projects. These currently include chairing Knowsley’s Education Commission and also Camden Learning, a school company which has practitioners driving improvement. She is a visiting professor at UCL institute of Education in London.
As Executive Chair of the charity Future First, Christine is focused on helping to establish a thriving alumni community in every school and college in the country so that young people benefit from motivational role models.
Christine received a CBE in 2006 for services to education and local government.
