Bringing the world of work to life this autumn

For anyone looking to recruit young people and influence their future careers Prospects Events have an amazing autumn series of careers, jobs and skills events happening. The events have 100s of organisations involved from small local training providers to national household names, and they all have one thing in common, these organisations want to meet young people, their teachers, parents and carers face to face to tell them about the range of options available when they leave school or college.

Prospects Events first two events take place in Newcastle and Leeds and are part of the Regional Skills Events series. The first, North East Skills, takes place on 23 and 24 September 2015, at Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle. More than 5,800 visitors have already booked to attend with the majority, 78%, in their final year of school or older. At the event visitors will meet Accenture, Arnold Clark, EGGER Uk, Everything Everywhere, Health Education North East, Marriott Hotels, Nissan/ NAC Group, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust, Northumbrian Water, Rolls-Royce North East Training Centre, Soil Machine Dynamics Limited, Wescott Coatings Ltd and many more. The second regional event is Skills Yorkshire and the Humber taking place at the home of Leeds United Football Club, the iconic Elland Road, at their Centenary Pavilion on 14 and 15 October 2015. Again a huge number of visitors have already booked to visit, more than 5,500, and again a majority are in Y11 or above. In Wales Prospects Events produce SkillsCymru, supported by the Welsh Government. These popular events highlight organisations in the Principality who showcase exactly what they can offer young people both now and in the future. The events, held in Llandudno and Cardiff, take place on 7 and 8 October at Venue Cymru and at Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff on 21 and 22 October. More than 70 organisations are involved in the SkillsCymru events and the shows are highly interactive offering young people and their families an exciting insight into different industries and the world of work. Well known organisations including ALDI, Arriva Trains Wales, BBC Wales, Cambrian Training, Careers Wales, Construction Skills Training, HELOA Wales, JCB, NHS Wales, Qualified for Life – Focus on Science, Scottish Power, Skanska (UK) plc, South Wales Police, Visit Wales, Wales & West Utilities and Welsh Water are all involved, find out more at

Prospects Events also work in Scotland attracting more than 10,000 visitors to the Skills Scotlandevents run in partnership with My World of Work from Skills Development Scotland. The events are held in Aberdeen on 27 October, Edinburgh on 29 October and Glasgow on 18 and 19 November.

The Scotland events are an annual feature in many schools calendars and this year employers and new exhibitors attending include Aberdeen City Council, Amec Foster Wheeler PLC, BAE Systems Maritime - Naval Ships, BT, EY, Glasgow School of Art, Graphic Enterprise Scotland, McLaughlin & Harvey Construction Ltd, NHS Grampian, NHS Lothian, Police Scotland, Scotia Homes Ltd, Scotland's Rural College (SRUC), Scottish Ambulance Service, Selex ES, SPX Clydeunion Pumps, SSE (Scottish & Southern Energy), Stewart Milne Group Ltd, Virgin Media to name but a few of the many organisations involved. Prospects Events autumn series of events concludes with London’s biggest jobs and careers event, Skills London 2015. Taking place on 13 and 14 November the event attracts over 30,000 young people aged 15–19. This flagship event, Skills London offers organisations and the next generation of talent an unrivalled platform and is supported by The Mayor of London and held in partnership with London First

More than 15,000 visitors are pre booked to attend Skills London 2015 in organised school and college groups representing every borough in London. Many of these schools and colleges attend every year and Skills London is a valuable asset for young people seeking to achieve their 100 hours of work-related learning as part of the London Ambitions programme.

All Prospects Events skills events are open to parents and families. The majority have dedicated evening openings on the first open day, outside of school hours, when family groups are encouraged to come along, and Skills London 2015 features a Saturday open day.
