National Careers Service

The National Careers Service provides information, advice and guidance for jobseekers and those in work aged 18 and older to help them manage their career and progress into learning, training and employment.

Our qualified careers advisers provide advice and support tailored to each individual customer’s needs through digital technology, telephone and face to face meetings. We help customers identify and overcome any barriers they face to give them the chance to unlock their true potential and find a fulfilling career which offers opportunities to progress.

Prospects is the leading provider of careers information, advice and guidance for young people and adults. We expect to support half a million people with careers guidance on behalf of the National Careers Service each year. Through the delivery of the service we work in 62 local authority and 13 local enterprise partnership areas.

As the prime contractor, Prospects provides the In Custody element of the National Careers Service in its delivery areas and across Yorkshire and the Humber. This service helps offenders in the resettlement phase to prepare for release and supports them ‘through the gate’. This includes moving into training, learning and jobs, which helps to end the reoffending cycle.
